Obviously this goes without saying, but other than my DNWs everything in this letter is totally optional. My DNWs and General Likes are also in the actual sign-up, but I've pasted them here as well for ease, and then I've put some thoughts of the things I’ve tagged, ranging from actual plot ideas to unhelpful brain dumps. If you've got your own thoughts/headcanons/ideas I would also be super happy to read them - it's always more fun to read when the person writing is having fun themselves! I'm fine with other characters/side pairings happening in the background of any of these prompts, as long as the focus is on the tagged character/pairing

DNWs:
• porn without plot

• character bashing

• graphic descriptions of rape/violence – canon-typical is fine, as is anything implied, I’m generally more interested in the plot/aftermath/how it affects the characters than reading the fine details

• modern aus

 

General likes:
• world-building – genuinely, if you pick any tiny aspect which has very little relevance to the plot but that you find very interesting and then waffle on about it for thousands of words, I’ll adore it

• found family – my Favourite Trope of all time! Let people build a family out of the people around them!

• angst, whump, hurt/comfort, darkfic – torture your favourite blorbo for my entertainment! The comfort is optional <3

• canon divergence – let people not die! Or, alternatively, kill them in new and exciting ways! How do small changes alter the plot, how do large changes fail to alter the plot, etc

• alternate universes – I always enjoy historical/fantasy/sci-fi aus – I love explorations of how the characters would behave and interact having been brought up in a very different universe

• aro &/ ace characters – I’m an aro & ace character, so I think there should be more of them around. I’m fine with them anywhere on the spectrum from ‘fucks because they think its fun’ to ‘unaware of romance as a concept’

• arranged marriage – do you look at a couple and think ‘they’d be interesting together but how would that even happen?’ Arranged marriage! All of the awkwardness! Getting to know each other! Finding out how they fit together! Becoming stronger together in spite of everything!

• explorations of gender politics – in (most/all?) of the fandoms I’ve nominated there are strict social rules depending on the character’s gender. I’m really interested in how character’s behaviour might change if things were different – genderbend, trans headcanons, omegaverse, whatever, I love them all. (I’m also a fan of mpreg, if that’s your thing, but I know mpreg/omegaverse isn’t everyone’s cup of tea)

• canonically disabled characters having their disabilities actually come up and affect the plot at points where the actual plot kind of ignores them

Xiao Chong | Prince Bai/Zang Ming

• I’ve generally not been into ‘powerful man and his loyal assitant’ but these guys have a chokehold over me actually

• Like there’s no way Zang Ming gave his eyes just because it’s an expectation of a servant because obviously Xiao Chong did NOT expect it to happen so there’s something more there

• They must be together all the time. Zang Ming IS Xiao Chong’s eyes. What has he seen, how much does he pass on?

• Alternatively, how does their relationship change post-canon? Does the new emperor leave his now-blind assistant behind??????????

Xiao Se | Xiao Chuhe & Ye Ruoyi

• BACKSTORY BACKSTORY

• like they knew each other as children, but we only see one short clip of them. Did they continue to be friends right until XCH was exiled? Did this have bad repercussions on YRY? Or had they already been separated by their gender or the fact he was a prince or by her illness

• iirc YRY said she once thought she could love him but she’s too similar to him? This is so JUICY

Sikong Qianluo & Tang Lian

• I love these two and their relationship immensely

• He’s her brother who she met when he was 17 and she was 10-12ish (what are ages) and then there are 7 years until canon starts. What sort of shenanigans did they get up to?

• We only see a bit of SQL’s grief after The Event but she’s known TL the longest of all of them. How was she coping off-screen?

• Or, slightly kinder, post-canon reunions

Lei Wujie & Sikong Qianluo & Tang Lian & Xiao Se | Xiao Chuhe & Ye Ruoyi

• FOUND FAMILY! THE FOUND FAMILY OF ALL TIME

• Wu Xin can also be here he should be with them more in canon honestly

• Bonding in Xueyue City! Shenanigans on the road/on the boat! Grief!

Tang Lian/Tiannü Rui | Fairy Lady Rui

• When I first watched this I was Not Sold but I now have a deep affection for them

• I headcanon TL as on the aro/ace spectrum so him not knowing what to do when he finds himself falling in love

• And/or: TL knowing that he can’t be with her because of Duty and Rui understanding this but wishing it was different! Pining from afar! Hidden relationship?

Tang Lian & Ye Ruoyi

• TL doesn’t quite have the easy affection with YRY as he does to his martial siblings, especially closer to the beginning, but I would love to see them interact more

• I think these two are the ‘looks normal because they’re compared to XS&LWJ&SQL&WX but are actually Also Not Normal they’re just better at hiding it’

• Tired & Suffering & keeping on

• Their clothes have very Hades/Persephone vibes. Make of this what you will

Sikong Qianluo/Xiao Se | Xiao Chuhe/Wu Xin | Ye Anshi

• I hadn’t really thought of this before someone requested it for Yuletide and now I’m like 👀 about it

Character: Ye Ruoyi (The Blood of Youth)

• I would love to know literally anything more about her, her growing up, her coming to Xueyue City, her sneaking onto the boat and staying there and literally no one knowing???? She’s amazing. The Brains of the operation

Character: Tang Lian (The Blood of Youth)

• DA-SHIXIONG MY BELOVED

• you could write anything about him and I would fall crying at your feet

Baili Dongjun & Tang Lian

• These two are so funny actually

• TL: is dying
  BDJ: you’re healed now and also my new disciple

• We only really see them interact on the island and BDJ is just haranguing TL affectionately, but when BDJ is talking about TL earlier he is so genuinely proud of him. I’d love to see more of them together

 

莲花楼 | Mysterious Lotus Casebook (TV)

Character: Shan Gudao

• He is the worst but unfortunately I find him utterly fascinating

• What is going On inside his head?

• What if the whole Nanyin thing wasn’t happening but he was still evil?

• What if the whole Nanyin thing wasn’t happening and he just gave up trying to beat LXY and retired?

• What if LXY’s brother didn’t die?

Shan Gudao & Li Lianhua | Li Xiangyi

• this is such a deep and uneven relationship and I’m so entranced by it

• LXY cradling his shixiong’s body and searching for it for 10 years and blaming himself VS SGD scheming in the background

Shan Gudao/Li Lianhua | Li Xiangyi

• this is perfect horrible horrible dark fic bait please

• there’s not enough dark fic in the fandom I love difanghua as much as the next person but I would love something horrible

• post-canon SGD victory? Mid-canon kidnapped LLH? PRE-canon???

Shan Gudao & Fang Duobing

• Worst father of the year award goes to…

• but WHAT if it was a canon divergence and he wasn’t a bad dad? What then?!

• OR what if he took 10 yr old FDB with him and forced him to be good at martial arts but in a horrible evil way?

• Evil SGD raising Evil FDB 👀

Jiao Liqiao/Qiao Wanmian

• I don’t have many thoughts for this except for they deserve to get rid of the men and have fun with it

 

琅琊榜 | Nirvana in Fire (TV)

Meng Zhi/Xiao Jingyu

• ok so this is my Crack Ship of all time, and is my personal and not very likely conclusion as to why Lin Shu|MCS is so close to Meng Zhi – in my headcanon Lin Shu is the only person who ever knew about it (because he’s nosy) and that’s why he calls Meng da-ge

• opportunity for some cute pre-canon fluff with the looming threat of canon waiting in the background

• OR I think a fun canon-divergence would be that instead of having Prince Qi killed the emperor marries him off to his extremely loyal and politically neutral captain of the guards – how many people are aware that this happened is optional

Meng Zhi/Mu Nihuang

• Nihuang said she’d only marry someone who could defeat her so the emperor is like ‘ok Commander Meng you are up go do your duty’ and the they have to get married despite neither of them being particularly happy about it

• There’s one scene where these two are standing beside each other looking at MCS and I got such ‘being judged by your married friends who are concerned about you’ vibes, for some reason

Lin Chen /& Xiao Jingyan

• they deserve each other. I wish SO BAD they interacted in canon

• falling in love or becoming friends with each other because they both love Mei Changsu

• teaming up on MCS together to get him to look after himself (whether that would work: unknown)

Consort Jing & Lin Chen

• so silly headcanon time again but obviously Consort Jing knew Lin Chen’s father so what if they were related. So Consort Jing is Lin Chen’s aunt/cousin/older sister

• this headcanon or actually any version of these two being friends would be great for Lin Chen tormenting Jingyan, also

Character: Xiao Jingyu

• obviously we know very little about Prince Qi in canon so anything about him would be really cool

• pre-canon

• canon-divergence where he lives – how this happened and then what sort of man/ruler he gets to be

Lin Chen & Mu Nihuang

• once again: teaming up to bully MCS into health

• sad post-canon bonding?

 

苍兰诀 | Love Between Fairy and Devil (TV)

Changheng/Dongfang Qingcang/Xiao Lanhua

• either a full all-dating-each-other or a V with XLH in the middle

• I think Changheng deserves something good happening to him. Maybe they kidnap him from his awful brother ad he gets to be their spoiled pet or something

Changheng/Ronghao

• a Tragedy

• I think as much as RH loves CH he wouldn’t choose him over his shifu

• would be happy for this to be a past relationship with the above OT3

Ronghao/Xunfeng

• something was going on between them while DFQC was locked up and I’m not saying they were together together but I think it would be funny/dramatic

Jieli/Shangque

• I LOVE THEM Shangque is head over heels and Jieli is also head over heels but she won’t admit it because of her very obvious baggage

• perfect opportunity for weird dragon headcanons – ooh HOARDING

Character: Ming Cheng

• MY BOY

• his role in the family is so complicated and he has a tragic backstory and his siblings love him but outside of the family everyone sees him as a servant and I’m very dksahfdsjhfka about him

Ming Cheng & Ming Jing & Ming Lou & Ming Tai

• THE found family of all time. Like ‘we found these orphan children and they’re our family now’. They’re all ride and die for each other. I love them

Ming Cheng /& Ming Lou

• When I first watched the Disguiser I was like ‘oh noo they can’t be SHIPPED they’re BROTHERS’ and now I’m rewatching it like ‘yeah they’re kind of brothers and they also Fuck’

• The relationship between these two is so layered and complex like they’re siblings they’re master and servant they’re brothers-in-arms they’re boss and assistant

Ming Lou/Wang Manchun

• generally would be more interested in this one if it was a side pairing

Ming Cheng/Wang Manchun

• proxy fucking

• they’re flirting/fucking/whatever to try and get Ming Lou’s attention that is all

Ming Lou/Wang Tianfeng

• there’s Hella Backstory here

• The Baixiao sect is kinda like Langya Hall with their ranking list. I think Ji Xue would appreciate Lin Chen’s general assholery and Lin Chen would appreciate Ji Xue’s commitment to the bit with her white hair
